Co-headlining with Pat Benatar, REO Speedwagon rocked a huge crowd at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. Despite being somewhat packed in with fans in the first row of seating without a dedicated photo pit, this shoot was a blast to photograph thanks to the tremendous energy Kevin Cronin and crew brought to the stage.
Photographer's Notes:
Since there was no dedicated photo pit for this concert, I was basically shooting from the first row of seats, mixed in with the fans. In between the seats and the stage was a big stack of bass speakers, which the fans lined up on, so I was basically shooting just behind them during the first three songs.
Lining the back of the stage was a large LED display as the main lighting feature, so the trick for REO Speedwagon was being central enough to catch the LEDs in the background, but off-axis just enough to get some separation and clean angles.
