There are some bands that fulfill your expectations for live performances. There are others that never live up to the hype. Then, there are those rare shows that come out of left field when a band comes out on stage and smacks you across the face with a show that's so fun it leaves you grinning as the camera's smashed to your brow. Suburban Legends are one of the latter kind of bands.

Somehow, I'd forgotten about this set of images from Suburban Legends opening for the Aquabats and Reel Big Fish. I shouldn't have – because this band was insanely fun to shoot, and I dare say, they made for the very best images of the whole night.
Between no shooting limit in the pit and a truly explosive performance on stage by Suburban Legends, this show was just amazingly fun to cover.
I shot, as always, double-barreled with the Nikon D3 and Nikon D700. The 24-70mm f/2.8 was my main lens, with very occasional support from the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 and Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8.
