November 23, 2008 – Semi Precious Weapons are the rock show. Don't believe me? Here's the proof.
Photographer's Notes:
I've photographed my friends Semi Precious Weapons four times now, the first time being about a year ago. Right away, there are basically two take-aways here. One, these boys are working their butts off and get around like nobody's business. Two, their live show is a blast, and I never miss them. Neither should you.
As always, the boys of SPW were great subjects. If anything, there's far too much going on at any given moment to capture everything. If you point your camera at the stage while the band is playing, there's a good chance there's something epic going on, from Justin Tranter's non-stop vamping to Cole Whittle's feral spin-kicks, and everything in between.
I shot this show using a full CLS setup, just like their last show. Three Nikon SB-600s were positioned on-stage as remotes, while I used an SB-900 as the commander on-camera.
End Notes:
Stay tuned for images from an exclusive portrait session with Semi Precious Weapons, shot just before their performance.
