It's rare that the 70-200mm f/2.8 is the single perfect lens for a rock show, but I could have happy shot Zappa Plays Zappa with just this staple telephoto zoom lens.

This show was all about the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR. The whole band was set back far enough that 70mm was perfect for shots of Dweezil Zappa and a full guitar.

This was a somewhat unusual spotlight show at the Pageant, so light wasn't an issue. I shot mostly between ISO 800 and ISO 1250 – a luxury in a theater-style venue like the Pageant. Even a luxury for some arena shows, too.
