Photos: Say Anything @ The Pageant

Fast action, low light, and singer Max Bemis thrusting out his mic at every opportunity for a big-club sing-along. What do you pack in your photo bag? Nikon's f/1.4 primes, naturally.

Photographer's Notes:

The first time I photographed Say Anything in a club opening for Angels & Airwaves, they had notoriously bad lighting. If I thought that their headlining tour would have been any different, I would have been wrong.

Since singer Max Bemis performs at the front of the stage so often, the acute shooting angle made for a huge challenge together with the lighting.

This show was incredibly rough – but then again, anytime you have to shoot wide open at f/1.4 for the openers, it's probably not an ideal situation. At least not at a club like the Pageant.

I rocked all primes for this gig, with the Nikon 24mm f/1.4 and Nikon 50mm f/1.4 coming in particularly handy for this shoot.
