While Ryan Adams was performing at the Peadbody Opera house and banning all photography, I was shooting Rhett Miller and the Old 97s at the Pageant in a beautifully spacious photo pit while gorgeous lighting rained down from the rafters.

I'd never caught Rhett Miller or the Old 97s before, but I've seen their names on the Pageant's marque for years. As it turns out, this show was a nice surprise in terms of lighting, shooting conditions and of course the music itself.
The Old 97s may be an alt-country band, but there was no shortage of pedal-to-the-floor rocking, complete with a few hundred 10.0 hair whips from frontman Rhett Miller.
While the lighting for this show was just supplied by the house rig of the Pageant and wasn't super bright, it was more than enough to shoot at “only” ISO 3200 and around 1/100 second with my f/2.8 zooms – the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 and Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8.
