As I Lay Dying always put on a killer performance. It's always a pleasure seeing them on the bill, whether headlining or supporting.
With their performance before Asking Alexandria at the Pageant, I knew I was in for a good show. This gig was also especially interesting because I got to meet up with my buddy Adam Elmakias to tag team this show with a set up speedlights.
We set the lights just before As I Lay Dying's set, so this performance served as a warm up and test to see how everything worked.

As I Lay Dying are a band that seem to be in constant motion, especially frontman Tim Lambesis. Stage lighting for this gig was actually pretty good, albiet with lots of flare-ups and dramatic color washes.
Speedlights were a nice option to help cut some of the color washes and add a little more pop for still photography.
I shot this show almost entirely with the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 glued to my Nikon D3. For a club like the Pageant where the band members aren't super spread out, the midrange 24-70mm f/2.8 on a full-frame body like the Nikon D3 is perfect.
