Pop Punkers The Academy Is… put on a lively performance, that, despite bizarrely bad lighting for photography, was a blast to photograph and which served as a great warm up for Blink-182‘s reunion tour.
Photographer's Notes:
The lighting for this show was a very strange mix of cyan backlighting, orange frontlighting, and mild daylight creeping in from under the shed at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. Despite this ghoulish lighting, The Academy Is… brought a really energetic set to the stage.
As ever, frontman William Beckett was the focal point of the performance, with tons of charisma and rockstar moves that belied the band's opening-slot status on this tour. Personally, I'm still waiting for the band's lighting to catch up with their live show.
I shot this show primarily with the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8, though the Nikon 70-200mm came out to pick up some tighter shots of William shot from down-stage as well.
