Preview: The National

I'm cranking on the full set now and have a big edit in front of me, but here's one shot from The National's show last night. The show was epic and I had the privilege of shooting the full set thanks to my awesome friend Heather, which was a huge thrill.

This shot was made at ISO 2000 with the Nikon D3 at 1/160 and f/2.8.

  2. Very nice. I really like this band and with a lot going on, on stage, there’s quite a bit of action to shoot. It’s funny to say there’s “action” to shoot when the band is pretty mellow. Anyway, looking forward to more pics!

  4. Shot them at the Wiltern a few months ago. Unfortunately had to do it from a ramp 50ft from the stage as the venue has no pit. Still got some great shots though.

    Look forward to seeing the full set.

      Yeah, that’s the one bad thing about those Wiltern shows – every show is a mini soundboard shoot due to that venue’s policies. I’ve heard Radio City can be like that, too. Thanks for the comment!

  5. Man alive, I worship this band. I simply cannot wait to see the rest of your shots. Did he jump into the crowd for Mr. November? When I saw them at Radio City he walked all the way along the wall ramp up to the first mezzanine, across the mezzanine and down the other wall ramp back to the stage. It was a long microphone chord :) I have a few shots of them up on my Tumblr from Terminal 5 a month or so back. The Dessner twins are flippin’ prolific.
