This was an interesting show, for one from a logistics point of view. Knowing that I'd be set up relatively far back from the stage – as is the standard for this tour, it seems – I turned to my friends at LensProToGo.com.
Lens Pro To Go is a company that I've been renting from for years and years. In fact, when I first started renting super telephoto lenses for shooting events, LensProToGo.com was where I started. So when I needed the big guns for this gig, Lens Pro To Go hooked it up.
I went with the Nikon D800 and Nikon 500mm f/4 VR for flexibility in cropping. The last photo in this preview pictures the setup I used. More on this setup in my full write-up of the show.
However, in the meantime I will say that the combo was absolutely awesome and delivered killer results. Not just acceptable results, but what I would consider essentially ideal image quality considering the limitations and conditions.
