The first time I photographed Travie McCoy, it was during Gym Class Heroes' infamous Warped Tour '08 show. In the two years since, I've seen Gym Class open for Lil Wayne and T-Pain, but it was great to see McCoy back rocking a more intimate venue with his solo material on the Too Fast For Love Tour supporting 3OH!3 and Cobra Starship.

Following I Fight Dragon's opening Slot, Travie McCoy's set was up, and I was very curious to see what sort of stage treatment he would receive. I'd seen photos of his glowing mic stand, and was interested to see whether he'd get a dark treatment or if things would eventually brighten up.
As it turned out, Travie got the dark treatment at the Uptown Theater.
Despite a very dark set, one nice thing about this show was the consistency of the lighting, which made exposure pretty easy. The exception was when Travie was at the mic stand, which was actually a lot brighter than I expected.
I shot this set between ISO 4000 and ISO 6400 with the Nikon D3 and D700. For the darker parts of the set, I shot with the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.4, and switched to the 24-70mm f/2.8 and Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 when I needed more flexible range.
