I'd caught T-Pain performing in support of Lil Wayne back in 2009 on the I Am Music Tour, but just a little distance kept us apart with photographers corralled back at the soundboard for that tour.
Thankfully on Chris Brown's F.A.M.E. Tour, I got a chance to get up close and personal with Mr. Autotune himself.

T-Pain almost never stops moving on stage. He literally seemed to pace back and forth between the left and right sides of the stage, always in constant motion.
There was a decent amount of light – though some of the other shooters in the pit complained about the treatment, I thought that it was totally workable. The lighting, with lots of haze, was certainly more atmospheric than some of the other acts, but I thought it was a nice change of pace to the spotlight-only, hazeless effects that we often see for hip hop.
I shot this set at ISO 1600 and 1/500 at f/2.8.
