There was a tough decision for this show, or so I thought: stage left, or stage right? With the middle of the pit off limits to press, photographers were asked to pick a side and stay there for Pearl Jam's domination of the Scottrade Center.
Photographer's Notes:
As you might have guessed from these images, I went with Team McCready for this show. McCready was by far the most popular vote when I asked my Twitter followers for input, so the fact that Jeff Ament was also stage right was a done deal. As icing on the cake, McCready and Ament also rocked out regularly during the allotted first three songs.
Lighting for this show was generally quite good – lots of bright lighting during the second and third songs, so exposure should be a piece of cake.
Overall, Mike McCready was by far the most photogenic member of Pearl Jam and regularly came to the front to rock out. As an added bonus, he was relatively well lit during these guitar solos, too.
This isn't to say that Eddie Vedder didn't get his share of moments – I don't think any photographer can complain with Vedder's full-on guitar face, let alone a few jumps during the first three.
End Notes:
Go stage right. Comments, questions? Let 'em rip.
