My Chemical Romance have come a long way since their Black Parade days, but only the band's lighting has dimmed, not the intensity of their live performances. And, needless to say, their fans are just as rabid as ever.
And despite a wild array of colored lights during the first two songs, My Chemical Romance as fun as ever to shoot.

My Chemical Romance have always been a challenging shoot. I missed the glory days of the Black Parade, with the big theatrical treatment and white light. This was the third time I'd caught My Chem with my camera, and despite the crazy color effects, it somehow seemed the easiest. That is, at least when it came to singer Gerrard Way, who was front and center for this show.
The cramped photo pit made moving around difficult, so I made the executive decision to concentrate on the frontman and pick up the other band members as opportunities arose. With only two songs to get the job done, sometimes sacrifices are necessary. Moreover, Gerrard seemed to get the lion's share of all the light on stage.
