Matt & Kim know how to put on a show. I'd first caught them live at Bamboozle 2010, and it was amazing to see these two performers generate as much energy – and more – than full five or six person bands.
Even after just the first song, the whole of the Pageant was pretty much losing their collective mind for this dance punk duo.

Matt & Kim were especially fun to photograph. With performers as overtly and genuinely exuberant on stage as Matt and Kim.
I shot this show with the Nikon D7000, and it performed very well. The Nikon 24-70mmm f/2.8 was just about perfect for this set, due to the distance and position of the pair on a small riser. I would have preferred shooting these guys on a smaller stage, as the riser made the setup top 2-meters from ground level, but the height did make the 24mm end of the Nikkor more than wide enough even on DX.
The only reason I whipped out the Nnikon 75-150mm f/3.5 for was a slightly tighter angle on Matt Johnson, but I could have easily shot without for this set.
While overall I prefer shooting the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 on full-frame cameras like the Nikon D3 and D700, the 24-70mm transitions so perfectly on an APS/DX body like the D7000 for shows like this on larger stages.
