Matt and Kim brought their party to the Pageant and made it feel like they were playing to 2,000 of their closest friends. This is one of the shows where the performers somehow make it look like they're even more excited than their fans to be at the show. Naturally, as a music photographer, I have to applaud these two for their live chops, because they always make for a photogenic pair.

There was a full pit for this show with what security said was 10 approved photo passes. Still, even with what felt like a relatively crowded pit, this show was a blast to shoot. Of course five full songs instead of the practically standard “first three” was a nice bonus, not to mention the fact that Matt and Kim put on a hell of a live show.
The Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 and Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 did the job here. The midrange zoom was just about perfect – the only time when I really wanted a wider field of view was when Matt came to the front of the stage – you can see this shot as the 5th image in the post. Of course, a vertical frame would have worked as well, but the whole moment happened so quickly, I was happy to nail focus and framing as I did. Sometimes, you have to be happy with the lens you have mounted!
