I have to admit, Heart's performance opening for Def Leppard surprised me a little by just how fun they were to photograph. Great performance, nice lights, and an enthusiastic crowd made for all the ingredients of a energizing way to start the night.
Photographer's Notes:
Cameras Used:
- Nikon D3
- Nikon D700
Lenses Used:
As with most amphitheater and arena shows, my pair of f/2.8 zooms were perfect for this show – 24mm was a nice full-stage focal length on the wide end while 200mm on the tele made for great close-ups.
In terms of exposure, it's always nice to be able to shoot at ISO 1600, f/2.8, and 1/250. If I can shoot at ISO 1600 in good lighting, I'm as a happy as a pig in mud.
