I see and photograph some over 100 concerts a year, but I have to say – Greek Fire's rock show at Pop's has definitely made the top 5 of 2011. The energy of this show was just immense, and as high as I've ever seen at Pop's.
Greek Fire is a band that not only has a huge sound, but a huge presence as well, which had Pop's bursting at the seams.

Every once in a while, there's band that just blows your socks off from the first time you see them. Greek Fire is one of those bands, and they continue to thrill every single time I've seen them.
I first saw them open for Incubus this summer and, thanks to my friend Kenny Williamson, had already seen images of their fantastic live show. Going into the show, I was extremely excited to see them perform and needless to say, they didn't disappoint. Of course, how could they – band members Moon and Ryan Philips are members of the band Story of the Year, who I've photographed many times through the years, and they always bring the rock show.
However, even having seen Story of the Year, Greek Fire is something wholly different and unique.
There's a grandeur in Greek Fire's sound and performance that's as refreshing as it is compelling. It's not hard to imagine these guys owning arenas as festival stages just as easily as they did the room of Pop's. I think that we're going to see big, big things from these guys in 2012.
If Greek Fire is coming to your city, do yourself a favor and see their show. I promise, it's not going to disappoint. You might just discover your new favorite rock band.
