Rocking out with deep blue LED lighting and frenetic strobes, indie-rock supergroup The Dead Weather delivered an electrifying performance at the Pageant. However, for as hard as this show was to photograph, it was rewarding in equal measure.
Photographer's Notes:
Blue or cyan: take your poison. Throw in a few strobes, and that was The Dead Weather's lighting summed up for their thrashing, kinetic show.
The band came out in darkness and if you weren't paying close attention, that's pretty much the treatment they performed with for the next three songs.
Still, for all the challenges of shooting with such lighting, The Dead Weather put on an absolutely wicked show. Singer Alison Mosshart dominated the stage for the first two songs, slinking on the monitors during the second song for some of my favorite shots of the night.
I shot this set with the D3, D700, and the usual 14-200mm assortment.
