Rocking a full house at the Chaifetz Arena, Chris Daughtry and band came out of the gate with all guns blazing. Despite a few last minute restrictions, Chris Daughtry's intensity made this an interesting shoot.
Photographer's Notes:
Just before Daughtry and the band came out, someone on the tour informed us that photographers were not allowed to go up the thrust (AKA, the ramp or catwalk) that jutted out from the center of the stage – all photography had to done from stage left. With two quick songs in which to work, this limited access made for an added challenge.
Luckily, I felt that Daughtry was still a good subject given the limitations. He moved around enough to keep things interesting, but also stayed put at the mic long enough to nail all the key shots.
When Daughtry did move up the ramp, he never lingered very long during the first two songs, which was perfect for getting those shots without feeling like I was missing out on too much goodness.
I shot with this gig with the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8, Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8, and the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8.
