After seeing Cake at the Pageant late last year, I knew that their Pointfest performance was going to be one of the highlights of the day. If nothing else, Cake frontman John McCrea's mugging on stage made for a fun shoot, and as a whole the set was a nice break from some of the day's heavier acts.
Photographer's Notes:
Cameras Used:
- Nikon D3
- Nikon D700
Lenses Used:
Bright open shade mixed with just enough backlighting to register made this shoot a technical breeze. If anything, the very slight edge of full-on sun that was peeking under the roof of the shed was the one obstacle in shooting.
John McCrea was as ever the entertaining frontman and definitely played to the photographers – plenty of great gestures to shoot here. Almost on par with shooting the Hold Steady. Almost.
The Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 was perfect on the full-frame Nikon D3 for much of this set.
