Here's just one from Paul van Dyk's set tonight, because hey, it's 5am. The full set will drop soon.

This gig was my first time photographing a DJ, and my second using Nikon's “Creative Lighting System” of wireless flash. All things considered, I think it worked out OK.

  2. Hey Celso, it was definitely an interesting experience. The DJ booth was incredibly cramped, so there was really only one shooting angle. Still, I think the shoot went well. All the details in the full write up.

  6. Hi Amanda, I should be posting the rest of the PvD shots on Monday or Tuesday of next week. The lack of sleep definitely punished me today, but I guess it just goes with the game.

  10. Hey Keith, thanks! I gotta say, this set actually sold me on Nikon’s CLS.

    The SB-600s worked perfectly with the SB-800 acting as the commander, and the whole setup was super easy. I’m going to go into the details in the full post.

    Thanks again for the help in setting this up. Both Amin and Yanix were super nice and were great about everything at Dante’s.

    I met Paul van Dyk’s agent and tour manager, and both were really nice, too. I’ll be passing them a link to a gallery of the full set.

  12. Yeah, I was testing the lights during Eric’s set and showed him a few shots while he was spinning. I’m definitely going to send him one shot that worked out.

    Unless you need a new camera right now, both Canon and Nikon will be announcing some new stuff at Photokina this September. Photokina is the world’s biggest photo expo and a lot of manufacturers announce their big products then.

    Even if you don’t get something just out/announced, the new releases will drive down prices on other gear. If you can wait, of course.
