February 22, 2009 – I met up with melodic metalcore group Bleeding Through for a quick shoot. While the full set is coming, I just had to share this individual portrait of guitarist Jona Weinhofen.
While Bleeding Through's Brandan Schieppati has “Lost Love” on his knuckles, Weinhofen here had “Rock [&] Roll” inked on his digits.
For me, this shot alone made the shoot all worth it, even before taking a look at the group shots. In fact, I couldn't resist dropping it into the newly refreshed Portrait Portfolio.
Shooting Notes:
I shot this with the Nikon D3 and Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8. The exposure was f/16 at 1/250 and ISO 200, with the intent to underexpose the ambient by about two stops.
Lighting:
The lighting for this shot consisted of four Nikon SB-600s. I ganged two of the speedlights camera left, while the other two speedlights were at 45º behind the subject. The sun was positioned camera left.
