WordPress Plugin: Crossroads

Today while checking some of the most recent plugins for WordPress, I cam across Crossroads by Duane Storey. The plugin integrates Flickr functionality to display images, from individual photos to complete sets. While I've been linking to my Flickr galleries in my show write-ups, I'll be trying out Crossroads to feature the full set from a show.

An Exhibition of Concert Photography

I'm very pleased to announce that I'll be exhibiting a collection of concert photography in my first-ever gallery show. The exhibition will include images of a range of talent, from solo artists such as Morrissey, Yoko Ono, and Tony Bennett to acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Strokes.

Motion City Sountrack brought their explosive brand of pop punk to the Pageant in an infectiously energetic and upbeat set that saw a dynamic mix of lights to compliment the band's dynamic stage presence.

Mae @ the Pageant — 2007.12.11

In a tight, 40-minute performance, Mae lit up the Pageant and its near-sold out crowd with bright, melodic rock and perfect pop hooks. While Motion City Soundtrack was headlining, Mae drew an enthusiastic reaction and received a great lighting treatment that let me put the Nikon D3 to a proper test.

Anberlin @ the Pageant — 2007.12.11

Anberlin launched in a 35-minute set under dim backlighting in a performance that was dominated by the rock band's bright melodies and frontman Stephen Christian's constant movement on stage. Even at ISO 12800, the dull lighting schemes were a challenge for the D3 and 24-70mm f/2.8.

Metro Station @ the Pageant — 2007.12.11

Myspace Music favorites Metro Station sailed through a quick 25-minute performance at the Pageant, the first of three bands opening in support of Motion City Soundtrack. The young four-piece from Hollywood, California wasted no time laying into a driving set of electro-pop, warming up before the still-growing crowd did.

Winding down their month-long tour that crisscrossed the union, dance-punk heros VHS or Beta brought the fresh jams to a small but dedicated crowd at Washington University's Gargoyle.

The October, Go Van Gogh @ Cicero’s — 2007.11.30

As much as it's fun to shoot in beautifully lit venues like the Pageant, that's not always where the best bands play. Such was the case last week with the October and Go Van Gogh, who opened for Semi Precious Weapons in two solid sets on Cicero's intimate stage.

Living up to their growing renown as the live show to see, Semi Precious Weapons brought their glam rock party to Cicero's in a raucous set of silver stiletto boots, spin-kicks, titties, and at least one song about Jesus.
