Hey Tom, great to meet you, too. I was hoping you'd see the shots. This was a really tough shoot, given how dark it was, but a few shots worked out. I'll see you at the Truckers, but try and check out Band of Horses if you can make that show, too.

Hey Todd, great photos, love the intensity you captured! It was great meeting you, it's always fun to see a show with folks similarly passionate about the music. Looking forward to Drive-By Truckers as well. See you there!

Hi G,

Wait for the Canon 5Dmk2 -- I think it will be worth the wait, even if it's not announced until Photokina.

Hey Andi,

It's really hard to imagine how I shot in the venue before. I'd be shooting at ISO 3200 on the D2x with the 50mm f/1.4 wide open, at something like 1/25 or 1/30. Spray 'n pray.

Going in, I knew I was going to convert to B&W, so I didn't worry too much about the noise. The funny thing is that the D3's files are so much worse at ISO 25600 that ISO 12800 looks really good by comparison.

The interesting thing: just think about how you would have shot this concert some months ago, without a D3. you would just have to underexposure and brighten the images later or would have had crappy exposure time values.

Nevertheless, good pictures. I think the BW conversion fits (and keeps the noise unimportant ;) ).
