Hey Todd,

Well, Cuba should give you ample opportunity to use the camera -- I'd love to head south the Cuba, but I have some concert commitments later this month to which I need to attend ;-)

For low light, high ISO shooting, there's nothing better than the D3 out at this point. I'm certainly enjoying mine.

Best,
Todd

Hi Todd,

Great report on the D3. I also got a very early D3. I really haven't used it much yet other than a little testing. It's just amazing at 3200.
I hope to take it to Cuba later this month to do some dance photography in low light conditions. You're welcome to join me.........LOL.

Hey Anand,

I think it will. I'm going to have to enjoy having the best performing high ISO cam for the next few months, or whenever it is that the 5Dmk2 will be released. I fully expect that camera to trump the D3, if only by a tiny margin.

Awesome, Todd. That is great to hear. I am sure the D3 will serve you well for many years to come.

Hey Zach,

The high ISO performance of the D3 is definitely amazing, especially coming from the D2x. Regarding the price, the D3 is certainly pricey. I'm viewing the camera as an investment toward future jobs, as the clean files the camera renders are going to expand the opportunities for all available light shooting outside the specific context of concert photography.

I just purchased a new Mac Pro setup and have no intentions of upgrading my old Powerbook, so the D3 is the last of my equipment purchases for quite a while!
