Honestly, I was beginning to wonder why the shots from Dir en grey opening for the Deftones were getting so many views on Flickr (ten-fold over other sets).
This morning a Flickr user commented that she’d seen people making graphics from my images on LiveJournal. As it turns out, a user made some icons from a few of the concert images, which you can see above, and posted them. Icons one through seven were made from my images.
The poster credited me and linked to my Flicker gallery, which accounts for the increased traffic. Dir en grey fans are dedicated!
The Flickr Adventure continues.

The pictures are great and those icons are really cool.
I’m actually suprised about the crediting though, it’s really rare that people in that fanbase bother to credit for any pictures they use.

Thanks, Aya. I think the icons actually turned out well and I’m happy to have been credited. A few other Dir en grey fans contacted me about using the images for making similar icons, so there are certainly considerate fans out there.

Akuii, I’m linking images from my Flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/toddowyoung
Flickr provides the code for blogging images and I paste that into the code while writing posts. As for video, most sites like YouTube and Google video also supply the code for embedding clips.
Hope that helps.

Haha, Dir en grey fans have often come up against copyright laws and such. So when we come across photos, we always try to credit people (crediting is actually a pretty big thing in the japanese rock community). Depending on the person (creator), the people taking icons or graphics are asked to credit them or not.
Besides that, I love your pictures. The contrasting is so sharp, I love it. I hope you go to another photograph Dir en grey again when they come back on their next tour. I, as well as many other I’m sure, would love to see more of your stuff!

Hi blame8008,
Thanks for your comment. It seems as though some fans are very concerned with copyright, as you mentioned, and photographers certainly appreciate this courtesy.
I’m glad you enjoy the images, it’s been a lot of fun to hear back from the enthuseastic Dir en grey fanbase. That band has generated by far the most interest out of all the concerts I’ve photographed (literally 10x over any other image set). I’d love the opportunity to photograph them and hope to see them again soon.

Requesting permission to create banners from your Dir En Grey imagery. Not sure if this is the correct location to make such a request. Feel free to delete this post if that is the case.
Kind Regards,
